Golden Milk: A Warming, Anti-Inflammatory and Immune Boosting Beverage That Soothes the Soul
Forget the store-bought powder mixes that leave a pasty residue at the bottom of your mug. Homemade Golden Milk is so easy and so worth the (minimal) effort! It gets subtle warmth from ginger and cinnamon, and its glowing golden hue from turmeric.

Black Pepper: enhances the bioavailability of turmeric’s health promoting compounds; supports digestion and liver detoxification; antibacterial and antifungal properties help support the immune system
Recipe makes about 4 cups.
Ingredients
2 cups water
2 cups milk of choice
1 1/2 - 2 inches fresh ginger, roughly chopped
1 1/2 - 2 inches fresh turmeric, roughly chopped
1 cinnamon stick
2-3 cracks of freshly ground black pepper
Honey to taste
Directions
1. Combine water, milk, ginger, turmeric, cinnamon and black pepper in a medium-sized sauce pot. Heat over medium-high heat until just starting to bubble. Do not boil.
2. Cover, turn heat off, and let milk mixture steep for 15-20 minutes.
3. Strain golden milk through a fine mesh strainer, or cheese cloth, into a clean jar or container. Sweeten to taste with honey.
4. Enjoy!
Tips
I like the subtleness of flavor that steeping provides. But if you are looking for a more potent brew, then feel free to puree the blend after steeping and strain through a fine mesh strainer or nut milk bag.
